The Esports Observer has learned that German  Bundesliga soccer club FC Schalke 04 is in active talks to sell its League of Legends European Championship (LEC) franchise slot. 

Schalke 04 Esports Managing Director Tim Reichert confirmed with TEO on Sunday morning that his organization is in discussions with an undisclosed party or parties but, “there is no final decision yet.” There is no certainty that a deal will even happen, but Reichert went on to say that he thinks the organization will have an update in “10 – 14 days.”

FC Schalke 04 Media Relations Manager Sascha Marx offered the following statement to TEO on Sunday: “We have always said, that selling parts of our esports business would be a way to generate income. We will inform the public when such a sale has taken place. “

The latest buzz around S04 Esports selling its LEC slot comes from a report in German magazine BILD and BILD reporter Max Backhaus, who claim that Schalke is aiming to sell the slot “to an investor” for $36.5M USD (€30M).

It is unclear what will happen to the S04 Esports League of Legends roster (whether it would be carried over to the new buyer) should the LEC slot be sold and a sale to another investor or organization would still require approval from Riot Games. Also, the new organization will probably not be able to play in the LEC during this season, or until 2022. 

Rumors began surfacing in February of this year that the soccer club might be forced to sell its LEC slot, as it faced hundreds of millions of euros worth of debt and executive resignations, much of it related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Later the club spoke about the possibility of selling the slot publicly, but at the time it didn’t share any details on its plans.

Pocketpair, the developer behind multiplayer survival game Craftopia, has unveiled a new title it’s got in the works at this year’s Indie Live Expo show. Called Palworld, it’s described as a “multiplayer, open-world, survival crafting game”, and it looks like it’ll have big appeal to Pokémon, Breath of the Wild, and third-person shooter games alike (yes, really).

Announced with a trailer giving us a good glimpse at what’s to come (included below), Palworld sees you venture out into a very pretty world – artistically somewhat reminiscent of games like BotW or Genshin Impact – to befriend critters called “pals”. Similar to Pokémon, these come in a range of different, fantastical types, from giant flying beasties the player character can ride, to husky-like creatures that can pull carts (or, again, be ridden), to little helmet-wearing, penguin-like buddies, and so on.

Along with help from your pals, you’ll get to construct buildings, get farms running, explore dungeons, breed new pals, and, er, get some production lines making weapons set up, too, according to this gifon the upcoming PC game’s Steam page. And, that’s not all.

Just ten seconds into the trailer we get a look at some gameplay that definitely puts a very different spin the whole chill, creature collection thing. A player character hangs from their flying pal’s talons and fires off a machine gun at an enemy on a dock below (who is firing back, too).

From around the 35-second mark, we also see some charming shots of country idyll – sheep shearing, crop harvesting and watering, and farmhouse building – interrupted by more gunfights. This time we see the pals get stuck in, kicking rifle-firing enemies out of the way, and even being used as shields to protect the player character from incoming fire. Oh no! We even see a little pal firing its own rifle and the player character use some kind of rocket launcher in the clip. Gulp. Palworld is due to launch at some point in 2022 according to its Steam page, where you’ll find more information on the game if you’re keen to check it out further. The Orelia Skin is an epic outfit that was first made available in the Fortnite Item Shop on June 6, 2021. Players can purchase the new outfit for a total of 1,500 V-Bucks, or as a bundle with other cosmetics for 2,200 V-Bucks.

So, how long will Orelia be in the Fortnite Item Shop? Well, according to the in-game countdown, the Orelia Bundle and Skin will only be available for 24 hours. This means she will leave the Item Shop at 5PM PT (June 6) or 1AM BST (June 7).

There is a chance that Epic Games will extend the countdown and make Orelia available for another 24 hours, make sure you grab her before she’s gone!

There are only a few more days until Season 7 of Fortnite Chapter 2 begins. Make sure you finish levelling up your Season 6 Battle Pass and get ready for a whole new season!
